Position Summary:

The primary function of this position is to act as the primary interface between Design Engineering and Manufacturing. be the "Go To" person and will coordinate all product design changes for the products built at the assembly plant and assist in resolving design related issues in production.

Performance Expectations

· Prepare concepts, designs and production drawings with supporting calculations and material data ensuring that designs meet specification requirements and manufacturing capabilities.

· Design, formulate and produce complete product related changes for current products in a continuous improvement environment. Improve warranty, ease of assembly, and expand product options for production.

· Investigate and resolve bill of material (BOM) issues.

· Maintain thorough documentation for all aspects of assigned projects.

· Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations for improvement.

· Work with manufacturing and engineering teams to provide cost effective solutions to design challenges.

· Provide support in checking details, assemblies and BOMs for assigned projects.

· Assist in troubleshooting and determining root causes of functional and performance issues with machines from mechanical, hydraulic and electrical standpoint.

· Apply a wide variety of established or modified engineering methods or techniques with considerable independence of action.

· Other duties as assigned.

Credentials

· Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

· Minimum 3 years of experience as a Mechanical / Electrical designer in a heavy equipment (or related) manufacturing environment.

· Demonstrated knowledge of Mechanical design, GD&T, DFMEA, welding/fabrication processes.

· Design experience with SolidWorks (with formal training preferred); experience with FEA desirable.

· Good working knowledge of mechanical design, GD&T, DFMEA, welding / fabrication processes, hydraulic controls and general electrical skills.
